red abstract:

A predefined area, for example the stage of a theatre, is scanned with a video camera. The picture is then imported into a PC via a video card and, now digitalized, examined for a specific item.

Based on the resulting two-dimensional position the volume-parameters for 6 audio-surround-channels are calculated and, afterwards, transmitted via a serial interface to the Digital Signal Processor (DSP). Depending on these parameters the DSP distributes the signal of an external digital audio source - music or sound - to 3 stereo audio amplifiers connected to 6 loudspeakers arranged in surround positions.

In this way, the illusion of a source of sound moving simultaneously to the watched item is created for a listener staying in the middle of the speakers.

The solution provided facilitates the manual handling of audio surround panning control. Additionally it can be used for the most varied applications imaginable.
