DA Sig 05/1 - Implementation of enterprise operating prozesses - information platform

The dissertation was invited by Phoenix Contact LTD with its Swiss headquarter located in Tagelswangen (ZH). Analysis of the existing information platform (Infonet) and the adaptation to future needs were the main aims of the dissertation. A broader use and better acceptance of the employees were in focus.

Phoenix Contact LTD is in the fields of electrical connectivity, industrial automation and transient absorbsion technology a leading global player. The company differs from other competitors by the consequent use of high quality standards in all fields. About around 5000 employees are working for the enterprise in more then 50 countries worldwide. All internal and company related data are filed on an information platform. The management realized, that the platform or the media was not used and maintained by the employees. Already during the first meeting the company made clear that not a theoretical but a final realization of our suggestions was requested.

To find out the needs of the users an online questionnaire was designed and combined with interviews of some key users. As a result the introduction of a new platform and media was decided. Therefore in two steps several CMS-solutions have been evaluated. To get into the new environment ?Typo 3? that was chosen as best solution, was a great challenge for us.

Preset documents from Phoenix Contact Switzerland were analysed and improved. The employees who are publishing were trained and a comprehensive documentation was built up.

To realize replacement as soon as possible, almost all existing information was integrated.

A cost overview serves as a lead for future cost development. Proposed extensions and suggestions should lead the way to get a higher acceptance by the company and employees for the new and efficient access to information.
