The task of this project was to investigate on the appearance of saturation for coils with core of ferrous material theoretically as well as through measurements, and to create a model which simulates as precisely as possible the course of the curves, especially the hysteresis curve. The chosen coil was used in three different ways: as an air coil, as a coil with a closed core, and as a coil with closed core interrupted by an air gap.

All of these three objects of investigation were subjected to measurements, but not all measurements have been evaluated because of the little time left. First of all some time was dedicated to get a better knowledge of the field of magnetism and especially of ferromagnetic materials. Numerous series of measurements were carried out, but the results did not seem accurate enough and were reiterated. In fact the problem was a noise existing in the whole spectrum. Different ways to remove the problem were tried out without success, so as time was passing and no solution was found, I decided to start to evaluate the results, also because the existing problem was not affecting much the results.

To carry out a good model I decided to concentrate on coil with closed core interrupted by an air gap. The model was continuously developed in reason of the results of the measurements. Finally the model turned out to be very precise when simulating the processes.

The results of the measurements for the coil with a closed core were also evaluated and simulated, but no model was created, and for the coil with a closed core interrupted by an air gap are only available the result of the measurements.
