Due to the increasing use of RFID technology, it has become necessary to have systems that can read the information stored in early systems, such as barcode or magnetic cards, and copy them in the newly available RFID tags.

In this diploma project we implemented a system that allows information to be read from barcode tags, magnetic cards and 125 kHz RFID tags. Further investigations in the techniques and different standards of magnetic cards and barcodes were also made. The copying function for the new RFID tags could not be integrated completely due to insufficient system resources of the PSoC made available to us.

We designed a hardware allowing to connect all these devices and developed appropriate software, running on a PSoC microprocessor. The diversity of the technologies and interfaces involved can be very well and cheaply handled by using a processor, such as a PSoC, that provides processing of analog and digital signals. Additionally, it allows its analog and digital resources to be dynamically configured.

Part of the collected data is made visible on an I2C-LCD and a full dump is always stored in an external memory (FRAM) and sent to a terminal program.

Hardware support for a Wiegand interface was also made available.
