In the course of this thesis we developed a measuring system to record electric power consumption. The aim was to produce a flexible measuring device, which can be configured and controlled by a bluebooth-compatible mobile telephone. The great advantage lies in the mobility of the entire system, which is accomplished through radio transmission of the measuring parameters and the measured data. The device can be used in both industry and household to record the power consumption of one- or three-phased consumers. As opposed to an power meter, not only the entire but also the exact chronological course of the power consumption can be measured and graphically displayed. The measurement inputs from electricity and voltage are galvanically separated from the net by using LEM-converters. For each phase the measurement readings are recorded with a device, which scans the current and voltage signals using Sigma Delta converters. These devices have a signal-processing function and perform calculation of real-, apparent- and reactive- power independently. On top of that, the effective values for voltage and current are calculated. The measuring device is controlled by an 8 bit RISC-processor. The meassurement devices select and temporarely store the measurement readings using a configuation dependent frequency. The connection to the mobile phone is enabled through a bluetooth device. The mobile phone software allows the user full access to the measuring system and the measured data can be graphically displayed. An additionally defined and superordinate protocol for data and commands has to be adhered to for the data exchange for the mobile phone and measuring device. Multiple connections can be maintained simultaneously. In the course of this project a prototype of this measuring device has been developed. Experience and results have shown that further development has great potential.
