This thesis (diploma) was written out in order to research the abilities of mobile terminals in everyday employment. The problem of today?s mobile devices is the small amount of memory and the relatively poor CPU performance. These problems were to be avoided as much as possible.

The application to be developed is a mobile directory, which can synchronize its addresses with a server. If this application is installed on several mobile clients, the goal is, after an update of the client with the server, that the same address database is present on all clients.

This task was already dealt with a preceding project. As hardware a mobile phone was used there, which resulted in substantial problems with the performance.

To avoid these problems in this thesis a PDA and a special Virtual Machine, the SuperWaba VM, were worked with.
