The object of the Diploma Project "Demostrator for a Programmable System on Chip (PSoC) microcontrol-ler" was to design a board using a PSoC microcontroller to be implemented in an application which shows the characteristic functions of it. The application is meant to be used for demonstration in teaching. A PSoC microcontroller is composed of configurable analogue and digital system-on-chip blocks rather than a set of fixed peripherals. In addition to it, the PSoC allows the implementation of functions not commonly found in 8-bit devices, such as the functions of filters, amplifiers and comparators. Another advantage of the technology is the possibility to change the configuration of the blocks while the system is operating, thus using more than 100% of the internal resources. We have realized the application as a meteorological service station with an extension board including a dual full bridge. The main board can connected to a computer with a normal serial interface (RS232). Within our project the hardware of the two boards was developed as well as the software for the applica-tion. There are three sensors which make use of the analogue blocks (AD-converters, filters, rectifiers, amplifiers, comparators, etc.) of the PSoC and the digital blocks (timers, counters, PWM's, UART, IrDA, etc.) and illustrate the configuration's flexibility. The respective configuration and blocks are made visible (graphically) on the computer in real time. Some difficulties occurred with the placement and the connections of the blocks, a problem that will be diminished with the new family of PSoC (27xxx). With the application realized as a meteorological service station the object of the Diploma Project has been achieved and we have certainly acquired profound knowledge by it.
