This thesis has been written in cooperation with Coca-Cola Beverages AG. The main purpose of this study was to compare Total Cost of Ownership of Client/Server and Thin Client Technology. Based on the result of the TCO analysis, a recommendation has been made to CCB AG, in which involve potential cost savings of a Thin Client architecture. Total Cost of Ownership, Thin Client and the current IT architecture of CCB AG, all need-ed to be understood and summarized. A specific TCO model had to be developed for the special requirements of CCB AG. Inves-tigation and selection of possible criterias in order to define the own TCO model was the most important and difficult task in this study. Necessary numbers belonging to the crite-rias were gathered from CCB AG, manufacturers and leading consulting companies. For a clear overview, the investment and cost comparisons have been calculated in a TCO analysis over five years. There are other non-assessable criterias called soft factors, whose impacts are only de-scribed by words because of time constraints. This report also mentions the risks caused by a Thin Client architecture. This study has concluded that an introduction of a Thin Client Architecture at Coca-Cola Beverages AG can reduce the investments by 25% or CHF 490'000.- and the costs by 26,5% or CHF 2,4 millions.
