Our project deals with network controlling and SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol). It is a joint venture between Schweizer Fernsehen DRS und Zurich University of Applied Sciences Winterthur (ZHW). It solves the following tasks:

• Discovering SNMP devices (Switches, Routers) in a network.
• Measuring specific values of the discovered devices.
• Automatic device data updating.
• Managing the discovered devices.
• Displaying device data as a diagram.

Another important task of this project was to design of a generic tag library. That tag library can deal with every conventional database management system (DBMS) and read or modify its data. These XML based tags are designed to serve web designers in their work. They are easily to use and could even be used without the knowledge of a JAVA programmer.
