This document describes the final thesis adr02/2 Flexible Database-Application for the Recording & Presentation of Sports Results within the University of Applied science of Winterthur. The tutors of this thesis were Mr. Aders and Mr. Mund.

The aim of the project was to renovate the former Football Database Application "Match-Up" and furnish it with Web-Interfaces, which would have a user-friendly structure and aid administrators in the entry of data. One of the foremost things that had to be done was to include a number of different sports to accommodate the various interests of the users. The desired information should be presentable with a design of superior quality.

One of the main goals of this project was the producing of a flexible database design apt to handle the different sports, competitions, teams and players in just one database. The database was designed to handle such cases as modification of rules, disciplinary actions and adjourning of old sport-systems to mention but a few. The Database-Management-System (DBMS) which is used is MySQL.

A software blueprint for the User-Interface was developed and documented to facilitate the development of application. The structure allows for a clear division between logic and presentation. Due to time limitations, the project could not be completed however further recommendations are specified and accounted for.

The application was created solely in Java; web-interfaces were created in JSP, which however is based on Java.
