The type of problem of this dissertation was to write a software concept for a node in a LON-network. The node should be designed as an interface for the components of a model railway. The components had to be connected to the node with an I2C-bus. The software was to be universal enough to connect several railway components. A special challenge of this was that those components could occur in different variants. All of this had to be implemented into a system with only little memory and a small computer performance. From the very beginning of this project it was not clear if we were to succeed. During the whole process we had to be careful with the usage of memory. Furthermore, the running times of the functions had to be kept as short as possible, otherwise it would not have been possible to connect the components with the soft-realtime behaviour. At the end of the dissertation we recognized that the memory was big enough but the time behaviour did not correspond with the preconditions.
