This Diploma-thesis, zem 02/3, has realised the WEB and corresponding a web based content management system for the municipality Dagerlen (ZH) The use of a database is necessary because of the quantity and complexity of the stored data. It also increases the flexibility for the maintenance of the WEB content and allows maintaining the content by WEB-inexperienced Municipality. For this project Linux was chosen as platform. The used solution is based on the popular LAMPS (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP, SSL). Furthermore a lot of free available software was used from the world of Linux.

The content management system should be OS independent and accessible from anywhere, anytime. Therefore we have chosen a web based solution, implemented in PHP. We tried to make as many data editable in the content management system as possible. Even the navigation bar is dynamically read from the database and can be easily modified.

We tried to maintain as much data as possible online because of following reasons:

  • The municipality is able to handle all online data with the highest flexibility.
  • Other municipality have the possibility to use our scripts in their website with just a very small outlay.

We have tried to make the WEB as useable as possible to the Content Manager as well as for the users. For example: The website has an integrated search engine which allows finding information on the entire website. This feature is very useful and comfortable for the visitors. We have also implemented a map where you can navigate through the area of the municipality and you can search for any objects.

Goals of the project were met with one exception. It also was our objective to implement the design made by a third party. Since this design was delayed, we had to implement the WEB with our own temporary design.
